Ahh, I’m going to be a Great-Uncle again. I got a Facebook message with an Etsy link to some Baby Cocoons (mostly crocheted) that she asked if I could make the baby. I looked and looked for patterns, but being the picky, persnickety person that I am, I decided that I could do better and started designing my version of a Cocoon…and then I added a matching hat.
I presented her the gift at her baby shower last weekend and I think she was pleased. She called it a “one of a kind” gift that was the “hit of the shower.” Naturally I was quite pleased…mostly because it made her so happy.
I think it’s a simple design. I used short rows to lift the back of the neck and added an after-thought pocket (instruction on how to do either of these is readily available on YouTube) and alternated thick and thin stripes. The basic design is easily modified to suit the knitters tastes in terms of color, etc. And the pattern is for sale now on Ravelry for $6.99. Enjoy
